Hubert Victor RICHARDSON
Hubert Victor Richardson left Trinity House after joining in 1911. He was the youngest Captain ever to leave Trinity House and was a Captain at age 38. He was on the Icelandic Seas during WWII, sailing out of Hull and later out of Goole on the SS Hebble. His other ships were the Irwell and the Fountain's Abbey.
In 1941, he was required to take a bomb out to sea which had landed on the boat. He had to take the ship from Hull to Spurn Point and push the bomb into the sea, so as to ensure that there would not be casualties in Hull due to the unexploded bomb.
Many thanks to Captain Richardson's son for supplying us with this information.
